What is the difference between the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice ?
The International Court of Justice is part of the United Nations system and deals with legal disputes between states. The International Criminal Court, which Israel does not recognize the jurisdiction of, deals with claims against individuals. Israel signed onto the UN Genocide Convention, as did South Africa. Therefore the ICJ has the jurisdiction to deal with the petition being brought by South Africa.
