How are Gazas hospitals being damaged ?
Gaza's hospitals, or what remains of them, are facing a dire medical crisis. Hospitals are barely equipped to treat patients, and personnel lack the essential equipment, medication, and beds to care for Palestinians in the enclave who are enduring continuous Israeli bombardment and siege.
The hospitals have faced numerous assaults, resulting in partial or complete destruction of multiple facilities.
To comprehend the extent of the physical devastation to hospitals in the Gaza Strip, I will offer satellite images taken between October 22, 2023, and March 27, 2024.
At least 24 hospitals sustained damage, including:
Six hospitals in northern Gaza.Ten hospitals located in Gaza City.One hospital located in Deir el-Balah.Seven hospitals in Khan Younis.
The most well-known is al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
In March, the Israeli army stormed al-Shifa with tanks and heavy gunfire for ten days, resulting in the destruction of the majority of the facility and the killing of many Palestinian civilians. Israeli forces have falsely claimed that the hospital served as a Hamas command and control center; however, no verifiable evidence has been shown to substantiate this claim, while thousands of Palestinians used what was formerly Gaza's foremost medical facility as a refuge.
Since October 7, Israeli forces have invaded the hospital at least four times, with medical staff and journalists among those arrested, as well as mass graves found on the grounds.
