How do Israelis feel about the fact that they are surrounded by unfriendly nations ?
Israelis are the literal manifestation of someone with a victim mentality when he is the bully. Zionists came from everywhere, colonized indigenous Palestinian Arab lands, massacred and ethnically cleansed the natives, installed a system of apartheid, and continued this policy for over 76 years. They bombed Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and other surrounding Arab nations like Iraq, then suddenly, out of the blue, they woke up to reality and found themselves surrounded by enemies who hate them, and for very good reasons.
Israel is surrounded by enemies and people with a different language and culture because Israel is a settler colony. It is a foreign presence. That is what a settler colony is!
As Fred Moten once said:
“Settlers always think they’re defending themselves. That’s why they build forts on other people’s land. And then they freak out over the fact that they are surrounded. And they’re still surrounded.“
It is the Arabs who should not feel safe because there is a growing and expanding metastatic tumor called Israel infecting their lands.
